Back again with the swiftness. Actually, haven't posted here for months now but who's counting, right? As I am typing this down, a version of our music video exist somewhere in the internet. You can probably find it if you tried hard enough. But we're not here to talk about that (YET) I want to talk about the people involved and who you need just in case you decided to shoot your own music video.
Believe it or not, alot of planning was involved with this project. We had limited funds as well as limited time so we wanted to make sure that the people we hired were either super cheap or super great at what they do. Luckily for us, we got both!

We already had the setup covered on the last entry I made in this DIY series, so the only thing that I had to worry about was the actual shoot and how we looked for the video. So scouring the internet for a director, I landed on http://www.pinoyvideomaker.com, and though alot of the people were over-qualified, they were outside our price-range. Since we already had the concept down, what I was personally looking for was a good eye. So despite having no experience shooting videos professionally, I decided to get Arland Mariano for our shoot. He is a very talented photographer and since most of the shots we needed were static anyway, it would be right up his wheelhouse.

Next would be styling, and despite my affinity to good clothes, I felt that I needed help with this one. Luckily, I know the Reluctant Stylista. I knew her way back in college, and despite finishing school with close to no experience in fashion, she quickly built up a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. I'd like to think of her as a hungry hungry hippo but that's another story. Rae, our make-up artist, was Alex' cousin and we couldn't be any happier to have her in the team.
Went out with the Reluctant Stylista a weekend before the shoot. Despite this impromptu shopping session, we had a plan of what we needed. Basically classy casual inspired by the likes of Justin Timberlake and Coldplay. I chimed in some Incubus shots that I liked but we mostly stuck to the plan and was able to come-up with some decent stuff.

The actual shooting itself wasn't that hard. I guess the only problem was not actually related to the people, but to the time and place. Arland was able to come up with some creative angles and it was fascinating to watch him be more adventurous with his shots as the day went by. Rae also made it easier for him to make us look good at any angle. So at the end of the day, I had alot of shots to choose from making it easier for me to edit good sequences and cool looking transitions.

Like I said, we already had the concept down. The equipment for the shoot, as well as the setting was already set as well. So when you think about it, we kinda had it easy. Despite that, I learned that it is important to have people involved that were masters of their particular craft. I wouldn't have been able to create any shots Arland has made during our video. Rae's contribution was important as it gave us the flexibility to play around with angles and not worry too much about "looking bad." And of course it's good to have a good eye, in terms of clothes to make us look presentable and cool.
Good experience all around. I would recommend this team and would likely re-assemble them when we decide to shoot our next video. Anyway, like I said, the video is already done so stay tuned for more info!
